    Past lack of employment

I have a question about my past employment, or the lack there of. A little background: I am a 19 y/o college student/baseball player. I have zero time during the school year to get a job, because I go to class usually 9-12, practice from 12-4, then usually another class after. In the summer, I am required to play on a summer team with games at least 4 days a week all over the tri-state area. If I don't play, I don't get a scholarship. No scholarship, no school.

I have applied for about 4 jobs so far this summer, and have not even recieved a phone call back. I always explain to the employer about my schedule, which I assume to be my limiting factor.

When I apply for the different departments is this going to be a draw back?

    Thanks,
    -Chris

With some it might not, but my advice would be to get a job after college for at least a year or two and get some work experience. I've found some people coming directly out of college have a little trouble learning to deal with the public. You won't be interacting with the same kind of people you go to college and play ball with.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Let me help put things into perspective. You're not working because your time is filled with schooling and athletics. Absolutely nothing wrong with that. You're using your time productively, and that may well help you illustrate to a future department that you can manage multiple tasks of varying responsibility. Now, will this make you more competative for a LEO slot than a guy who has his degree and has done 6 years as an officer in the Marine Corps? Depends on what the department is looking for. You're occupying your time with worthwhile activities that will help develop character and complete your education. If you don't have a part-time job serving tables at TGI Fridays, it's not going to be the end of the world for your future applications.
