Can anyone tell me how Prisoner Transport Companies charge Police Departments and/or State Governments for extradition? Do they charge by mile or how is it done? What is the average cost?
Thank you

Depends on the Company used, and generally whether or not the prisoner is high risk..
Yes the charges for the transport by private company or by Deputies/Officers will be added to the Court Costs of you or your friend, since this is where I see this going.
Run you cur! You tell all the other curs the laws comin! You tell em I'm comin! And Hells comin with me!
Ok Curt, easy now. I want to know because I used to WORK for a Prisoner Transport Company out of TN (NOT Transcor, btw). I was not only curious myself, but also have a friend who is interested in getting into the business.
Sorry if I gave you guys a different idea??
I can check with my wife, she used to work at the jail and take in groups from Transcor quite regularly. You may have met her. I never even heard of that company until my wife started doing jail work.
Interesting idea, kind of like some of the private jails running around now days.

We either do our own or have the sheriff's office do it. We don't hire any private company for anything to do with law enforcement of any kind.

Piggy, I do appreciate it. I worked for PTS of America, not TransCor (I made it a point to say I never worked for them, their track record is AWFUL). In all honesty I've (knock on wood) never been arrested and never had any idea what it cost to transport the inmates we moved...and I never asked because it wasn't important until now.
Any help is greatly appreciated, although I'm beginning to think I picked the wrong site to ask these questions!
Haven't heard of that company before but she probably has. She was in the business for about 7 years .
Out of curiosity, why do they have a bad track record? I've never heard anything good or bad, but I haven't dealt with them too much.
The only story I've ever heard about Transcor is a rollover accident they had one time and when the Police arrived it was mass confusion for a minute as they couldn't figure out why someone was there with a shotgun and inmates.

Well, I had a link, but since I haven't made 15 posts yet I guess it'll have to wait. They've had a lot of escapes, Agents having sex with inmates, etc. etc. If and when I manage 15 posts I'll post the link.
Well folks, I really do appreciate the 5-7 minutes you guys spent criticizing my question (1 or 2 of you actually DID answer, thank you), but I'm sorry to say I will not be allowing the shortcut to this forum take up space on my desktop any longer. I'm really disappointed that this post was met with suspicion and sarcasm rather than a desire to try and answer the question; I just assumed that was what this site was for (answering questions). I guess I was wrong. For those of you who actually DID attempt to answer my question I THANK YOU, but I don't think I'll come back here looking for any intelligent and polite answers ever again.
Thanks for the negativity!!
It took you 13 days from your last post to come up with that nice little paragraph?
As cops we are usually suspicious, especially when the question comes out of left field for something as obscure as what you asked.
And looking back to the replies, if that is all it takes to offend you so much, then I would suggest not working in that field anymore, unless your prisoners are a lot more polite and friendly than what we get down here.

Protect and serve may have been painted on the side of the " One Adam 12 " squad car but we aren't working here. We would have been just as suspicious if on duty , we just couldn't have said what we really wanted to say
Beyond that....street cops are NOT involved in the day to day managerial and budgetary duties of who gets paid how much for a transport. We take people to booking ( jail) all of the time and it is a FREE ride.
