    Mobile Plate Hunter?

I would like to know how many of you have this program at your department and what you think of it, I would like to hear the good and bad.

I would like to know how does this program work, can anyone tell me how does the camera knows the car is on the road and how does they computer read the photo so fast.

I will say I’m for it for the most part, I mean why would I not be, I have a valid license and auto insurance all the time and I don't have any warrants nor do I drive stolen cars so this program does not bother me for the most part, but I was told it records my location each time it scans my tag and that’s where I would have a problem with it assuming that is true.

    Thanks in advance.

Actually, it records you car's location. In most areas, the registered owner of a vehicle doesn't actually drive it.

You may not know this, but intersection cameras also capture the image of your and your vehicle each time you pass through an intersection. Luckily, a tinfoil beanie can defeat those who wish to place transmitters in your molars and constantly monitor your location.

You have a GPS enabled phone? They present much larger privacy concerns IMHO.

Do you think that someone has the time or even cares to somehow log or track your movements ?

You have no expectation of privacy while driving on a public street. If you have a problem with that, don't drive.

I love guys like this. They seriously think someone gives a damn that they've been to the XXX bookstore and hit Taco Bell on the way home.

Look at it this way. The govt knows where you live. The govt knows where you work. The govt knows how much you make. The Evil Govt Minions could find you in a couple of hours with that information alone. If you have a cell phone or Onstar anyone could find you RIGHT NOW. Why, just the act of posting this makes you traceable.

The plate reader compares your plate against a list of cars that are stolen or whose owners are missing, have warrants and other stuff. Readings are temporarily recorded but I don't think your plate gets permanently stored anywhere.

I thought that was only if you were silly enough to provide real information on those customer loyalty cards or when they ask you after a purchase. Then again if you paid by any means other that cash.......
