If I ask someone for their SSN then it's necessary. Otherwise I'll just get it by running their driver's license, since the SSN appears on your driver's license record.

SSNs are irrelevant. No one is required to divulge that information to me. Unless they don't have ID and I need to establish who they are by name/date of birth/SSN (usually don't need the SSN, but sometimes we need it to verify in a few situations). If they give me wrong info, then it's a false ID charge.

    Just depends.
My dept. will arrest you, make you sit in a dark room with no windows and leave the water running. You eventually go crazy from listening to water droplets, then they're more than happy to tell me anything I want to know:D

Easiest way for me to find out their OL status if they don't have their drivers license on them.

If someone at a call doesn't want to give it, no problem. I can run them for warrants by name and DOB. Of course, when I do that through my MDC, their OL status comes up as well and gives me their SS# anyways

John Doe arrestees aren't held in contempt of court, but you cannot do bond paperwork or a hearing with someone you don't know who they are. If they won't tell a name, and we don't have their prints on file, they will sit in jail until their identity is determined.

They've got us surrounded? Good. Now we can fire in any direction, those bastards wont get away this time

An amateur will train until they get it right. A professional will train until they can't get it wrong.
