If I throw a party on my property how can I keep cops out? What would give a cop the legal authority to come on my property? Something about a gate or no trespassing signs?

lol. You've come to a cop site asking how to keep cops off your property? Go to anarchists.com and ask them.If I throw a party on my property how can I keep cops out? What would give a cop the legal authority to come on my property? Something about a gate or no trespassing signs?
DONLON
I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

Guess what,
If you are having a party an it's too loud, there are underage people drinking on your property, or you're making noise after 10 at night, the cops are going to able to come on your property. A no trespassing sign won't do anything. Keep your parties legal, not too loud, and keep drunks and minors away, and you won't have to worry about the cops coming onto your property.

'ts not like that, not underage or even anything illegal. I've got some neighbors who are out too get me. I live in an almost woodsy area but they are about 200 yards away. I just don't want police to come in a kill a buzz, lol. Noise restrictions possibly?
If there are noise rescrictions in your town/county/parrish and the neighbors call because of loud noise, then expect the officers to be at your doorstep. You can't do anything about it.
Would I have to answer the door? Like I said I'm out in the boonies with about 10 acres of property but my house is positioned close to another. We don't have noise violations but what if they called and complained?
*sigh*

You've got nads for sure!! Coming here to ask how to keep COPS from crashing your party.
Tell ya what. I will help you more than you know.
Go to your nearest PD/Sheriffs Station (whoever is responsible for patrolling your neighborhood). Give them the information for the party (i.e. location, date, time, expected number in attendance and age group). Then if your neighbors complain, dispatch will already have a heads up.
Heck, just to make it even better, give the officers/deputies an open invitation to the party to check things out if a complaint does come in.:D
Thank me later after you have had a good "Raise the Roof" party!!!;):D
Disorderly Conduct is the " catch all " charge when nothing else works. If you choose to ignore the police at your door, they might go get a warrant for your arrest and come back and TAKE you to jail. Instead of acting like a butthead , go outside and talk to the officer's.
They probably will just WARN you to turn the music down and than leave. If you want to intentionally piss them off, don't answer the door. Then on your way to or from your house, they will likely pick you up on the warrant and haul you in.
Why don't YOU call your local police ahead of time ? Tell them you are going to have a party. Give them your name and your house and cell number and ask that if there are any noise etc. complaints , to call you and you then will take care of the issue at hand. Being that you are the property owner or person on the lease, YOU are respsonsible for the conduct of what goes on at your house.

The fundamental error on the original poster's part seems to stem from a faulty understanding of the term 'trespassing', which is the unlawful encroachment upon the property rights of another. The police responding to, for example, a noise complaint, are not violating the law.
As for not answering the door... we encounter that fairly regularly in my line of work. Tragically, the door rarely survives.

+1 Best advice, I suggest you take it. If I know that if Joe Snuffy called and said that he was having a party and left a contact number, I would probubly call him if I received a complaint about noise. Instead of sending a unit out (the first time). It would save everyone alot of time and trouble.
Try being a proactive citizen and not reactive.
I always preferred when the door was not answered. Then we can assume someone is under distress inside and we have a contest how many hits it will take to knock the door off your hinges. It usually takes one unless it's a little stronger of a door, be sure to post back and let us know.
If you have a noise violation, that means someone called and complained.
Job security....you gotta love it.

Please don't answer the door. I love it when that happens. That assures that everyone goes to jail instead of me just telling you to turn down the music.
