    legal?

Can anyone tell me if it is illegal in Iowa to ride in the bed of a pickup truck? I attempted to find this information myself but i received conflicting information. Thanks for the help.

It is not, as long as you stay in the bed. If you sit on the bed rails or wheel hubs, then it is.

However, on a common sense standpoint, it is not smart to ride in the bed of a pickup truck unless you like taking the chance of making yourself into a projectile.
Excuse me Officer, I have a stupid Question. "No problem, I've got a stupid answer for you!"

I dont ride in the back. I am a security guard and i saw some employees doing this in a company truck and i just wanted to know if it was legal or not. Even though you say it is legal i believe i will still inform their supervisor because of that fact that it is a stupid move.

legal or not, it could be (or could become) company policy against it.

Where I am, there must not be any seats available in the interior of the pickup before you can ride in the back, and must be seated on the bed.

    Our confusing law.

Over 18 is OK but you can't drive over 35 mph.

Under 18 not OK unless in a parade or kids working on a farm while going to or from a farm jobs, kids going to or from hunting etc.

When I was in Saipan there was a police pickup truck with a large sign about buckling up and they would be enforcing it all over the island.

But there were 4 Officers riding in the back of the truck. I thought that was a little odd.
