    Is is a crime?

I know this may sound like a simple or stupid question ( I did six years in the army, and yes, there is a such thing a stupid question.) And it may even sound a little childish. But I figure you all would know the answer so here it is.
Someone, keeps posting a fake myspace page about me. (I don't even have a real one!) all it ever says is I'm gay (which I'm not) and stupid **** like I need to go shopping, blah, blah, just stereotypical stuff. No one has ever been threatened or any thing like that. I just keep emailing myspace, and they just keep taking it down, but a couple days later there it will be again. Should I contact my local law enforcement in ohio about this?

No it is not a crime, but just out of curiosity, when was the last time you actually went shopping?

You may have a civil claim for defamation of character, but no crime has occurred (at least here).

Not familiar with the subject, but isn't there case law somewhere about some kids putting up a fake myspace of their school principle? I can't remember if law enforcement was involved.

Please don't take offense to my laughing.

Honestly, best advice is to ignore it and it'll go away. Someone knows they're getting a rise out of you so they keep creating a new page.

There may be some states that have computer laws or harassment over communications laws but I don't know if having a fake myspace page about someone qualifies.

Best course of action is suing them in civil court for libel or defamation of character

Lets say it does rise to the level of a crime. Lets say the culprit is 800 miles from you. Are you going to travel their at your own expense to be interviewed, testify at least twice etc. ??

I get this from people that have been scammed on Ebay. The " seller " lives in my area and the buyer paid for a trinket from Phoenix ( 2,000 miles away). Is the person in AZ going to fly here , stay in a hotel, rent a car, eat etc on their own dime for me to charge this person ?
