Work experience or anything that shows some kinda life experience at all outside of a controlled environment.
Stacked up next to a 22yr old who has successfull leadership experience, military, people skills, etc.... your stack may come up short.:D
Well i have worked with my dad in a self employed floor sanding company since i was 14 so i definetly have work experience, i have 3 former cops i can use as referals too if that helps :D
You can start applying now, sure.
You don't have any strikes against you, but you don't have much more than the minimums needed for acceptance, either.
A few things you can do while you're waiting:
1. Take some Spanish courses.
2. Take up jogging.
3. Sign up for a creative writing course to improve your spelling and grammar skills. You'll be doing alot of narrative writing on this job.
Im in great shape i was team captain for 4 years on my high school soccer team dont know if that means anything though lol.
It's going to depend on the job prospects where you apply. If it's a better funded PD, you'll be competing with other applicants with bachelors degrees and previous police experience. Everyone is going to have a unique set of qualifications to take to the table so you need to make yourself stand out.
