    POST or not POST

    Hello all,

Yes it's another one of Amarula's curious questions...

So I have noticed that some, or rather most states, have a POST (peace officer standards and training) board that administers certifications and discipline and other things...

What is the alternative to POST? Is it a civil service commission like they seem to have in NY...? Whats the difference and which one is better? Are there any other forms of this sort of thing?

Thanks in advance for your answers.
I am on a lot of lists...
There is no excuse for stupidity- except genetics.

In Virginia, it's the Va. Dept. of Criminal Justice Services that does that. In conversation, the agency is typically identified by the acronym (DCJS).
