Vacation in L.A.

Hi all,

i hope this is the right area to ask this. I am a german P.O. I intend to do a vacation with a colleague in Los Angeles.

Therefore, we look for a favorable alternative to expensive hotels. Is there a possibility for police officers to rent a room for one or two weeks in the Police Academy of Los Angeles? Or are there other favorable possibilities to live in L.A. for this time?

I'm not sure if LAPD's academy is set up like that... Where in Southern California are you planning to visit/stay and what kind of nightly rates were you hoping for?

thanks for your answer. We want to visit the city of Los Angeles. I think hotels a very expensive there. So the most important thing is, that it is cheaper than a hotel... :-) In Germany and Europe we have many houses of the IPA (International Police Association). But I did not found a IPA-House in L.A.

The LAPD academy is not the live-in type so we don't have any rooms where you would be able to stay. Depending on which airport you fly into their are decent hotel room rates to be found in neighboring areas with a short commute.

You will find there is not much to do in downtown LA. Most the buildings are commercial. I would suggest if you want a few sites, you start at Santa Monica and work your way down to Balboa beach. You will see plenty of sites on the way.
