Am I over before I even had a chance

Hello everyone I need some help. Two years ago I was cited for speeding on the Mass pike. Today, I backed the tractor trailer I drive into a Toyota pick up,and caused damage. No bodily injury though, THANK GOD.The Hartford Police officer that handled it gave me a verbal warning for unsafe backing, which I do not argue at all, I know the accident was completely my fault. I was very upfront about it to the officer as soon as the he arrived on scene, which is why he said he gave me the verbal warning. Now my question is, am I still ok to go for the CT State Police or did I just take my self out with this accident today.
    Thanks for the help

How bad was the truck smashed? Did you back ALL THE WAY OVER IT? As in pancake?

I'm afraid you'll have to do better than that, if you want to get out of joining the CT State Police...

In all seriousness, while your accident may be a speedbump in your application process, I don't see it as a hurdle you can't get over.

Accidents are a part of life, and some of them are true accidents. More police officers are killed each year in traffic accidents than in shootings.

Felonious drug use is a choice, and THAT will kill any chance at about 99% of LE agencies nationwide.

You are good to go unless the Toyota in question belonged to the CSP or one of their Troopers. ;):D

As for the amount of damage to the truck, it was just the front bumper. Sorry not flattened like a pancake. The driver even told the officer that he could not see my mirrors when he parked behind me. I did not want this to sound like a stupid question, but, some Law Enforcement Agencies can be really picky about things.
