    Some Advice...

Hey yall, I'm 17 and seriously looking into being a police officer. I have been looking into John Jay College of Criminal Justice and looks like it'll be my first choice. I just wanted to know what being a cop is all about, if it's worth it, and how to prepare well for the physical exam...

Also....I am trying to decide whether or not I should go for my

    Bachelors or Associates.
    Well, any advice?

Why folks think a CJ degree is a prerequisite for LE is beyond me.

Get a degree you can use OUTSIDE of LE. Psych or even Engineering. Most of my co-workers fit that category, I can't think of a single CJ major around here.

Go for the 4-year degree, lots of depts give you more money. :D

Myself, I took psych. Believe me, it comes in handy. My partner is an English major. Something else that is also handy when it comes to report writing. Heck, we even have a bunch of electrical engineers.
Don't try and outweird me, I find weirder things than you in my breakfast burrito.

Take CJ because it interests you, not because you think it's a must for law enforcement work.

Screw college, you don't need that crap! I sure didn't!

I'm kidding of course. I must caviat what everyone else said. Assuming you stay out of trouble, I would reccommend looking into a business management degree. CJ looks good on paper, but if this job doesn't work out for you, what then? It's a useless degree outside and for the most part inside this job.
