Question about applying

On my ride-along last night I asked several officers about applying and how they thought I should apply. A couple of them said "Apply everywhere and any where, because you will get used to the process." Another said "Apply only to a couple places at a time, because if you are applying, the police departments will see who you have applied to and it will go against you."

So my question, what are your views on the number of departments to apply to? I have started by applying to the department where I am an explorer, and the Sgt. said that he REALLY wanted me to because he thinks I would make a great PO.

Simple answer: apply to any and all departments you're interested in. Don't put all your eggs in one basket.

I second that. When I graduated from the police department I applied at over 14 major police departments in my state.

true! I resigned form th pd that i was working for and now i applied in 5 different depts....

if it doesnt work with theme ill apply in 5 others depts... dont rush to 20 differents depts at the time but 4 to5 depts at the time is a good deal
