Am I "too old" to get hired with the LAPD?

Hello everyone. I'm going to be applying for an LAPD officer position but I am concerned that me being 32 years old would greatly lower my chances of being hired. In general, is it common practice for police departments to hire officers in their 30's? THANK YOU IN ADVANCE FOR ALL YOUR HONEST RESPONSES

I went through the academy at 32 and was hired at 33. My class leader was 57. And he made it through. He didn't have to worry about getting hired as he started his own police force at one of the local airports. (LONG story)

It is done all the time...as along as you can pass all phases of the process (physical tests, psych, BI...), it matters not how old you are, but if you are employable with the least amount of liability.

I spent yesterday with supervising a recruit who was 52.

He was ex-SAS and would run rings around me physically and I am sure embarrassed a lot of 20 somethings on his recruit course.

    32 is nothing. :D

We had a few in our class that were in their 30's. I was 26 at the start of the academy. Our class leader was 42. LAPD does not have any age requirements. As long as you can successfully pass all portions of the hiring process you will have no problem.

    GOOD LUCK!!!

Did you go to the source and Ask the LAPD??? If not, why not?

FWIW, youngest guy in my class was 20 years and change. Oldest guy was 44.
