Question: I am a 39 year old women ,without a college degree. I have been very interested in police work. Am I too old and do you need a degree to become a police officer?

can't help too much as far as what is required re qualifications etc in your area, and you might want to list what state you are in so that others might be able to assist you further, but as far as age goes....

I know of a lot of people who joined the job older than you.

It all really depends on who you are and what you can do, not how old you are.

There are plenty of people younger than you that should no be in uniform. If you are healthy and fit, and can pass the requirements and are deemed suitable, then neither being female nor your age, should prevent you form being able to do the job.

As long as you can keep up with those around you, age nor gender do not come into it.

In PA , we have only a minimum age ( 21) . There is no max age and the oldest person we hired with no experience was 38. Our physical agility test is based on your sex and your age. The age groups are 20-29, 30-39, 40-49 and 50+.

You do not have to mee the standards of a 25 yr old but that doesn't mean you can just walk through it. You will have to get in shape.

I once knew a 55 y/o woman who got hired with no degree. If you can pass the agility and you meet the posted requirments, you have just as good a chance as anyone else IMHO

I totally agree. Here, however, you need at least 60 college credits to be certified. Good luck.
