For security reasons I changed names other than the missing person who’s family have given me consent to release it.
On 10/12/07 at approximately 0005 hours, John called Culver City Police Station to report his daughter, Melissa (3/19/91) missing.
John told me that he last saw Melissa when he dropped her off at her high school at 0830 hours on 10/11/07. John conveyed to me that he had spoken with some of Melissa’s friends who told him that they though she was thinking about running away from home. John also spoke with Melissa’s boyfriend’s father, Tuy, who told him that he had not seen her and that his son and he were concerned as well for her safety. John also informed me that he received a call from a senior worker at Lindberg Park in culver city at approximately 1300 hours on today’s date. The senior worker (Andrea) had been given a pink backpack with an emergency information card with Melissa’s parents contact numbers. A young female child who was playing in the park found the backpack in the female restroom and gave it to her supervisor (NFD). The supervisor then gave the backpack to andrea and she called John to inform him of her findings. I spoke with Andrea over the telephone and she told me essentially the same thing and added that there was nothing inside the backpack except a few pieces of paper (including emergency card) in the small pocket of the backpack.
I then called Tuy and asked him for any information he had about Melissa. Tuy informed me that he is a LASD deputy, and he was informed by his son that Melissa had recently become very upset over the death of a fellow student at the high school. He believes that Melissa’s parents are discouraging her from talking and mourning with her friends about the recent death of her friend. Tuy added that his son also relayed to him that Melissa had sent a text message to one of her friends on 10/11/07 at 0100 hours that she was going to run away from home. Tuy conveyed to me that he thinks Melissa and her parent’s relationship has been deteriorating lately. Tuy assured me that his son was currently at his ex-wife’s house sleeping and had not herd from Melissa all day.
I filled out a missing Juvenile report form and had it entered into the nationwide system.
This is the original statement taken and it has MANY inaccuracies and the police will not change it. Culver City Police Department is not the biggest department and we believe that the girl is in LAPD jurisdiction now. She is mentally unstable and in her room we have found suicide notes and very violent letters to herself. She obviously needs mental help and most people involved are underage. The police have not done anything other than over the phone. And this report is not complete because there is another girl named liz that knows fully the situation and nobody will help us. I am currently a Police Explorer for LAPD and I am helping my friends. Any advice or help finding this girl would be helpful. If you would like to contact me personally preferably a LEO would be great just private message me and I will give you my contact information.
