Ride along

I will go to a ride a long with Joliet Police department at the end of this month and it will be my first time.

so, what should I do? i will bring a paper and pen to take notes and camera to take pics (he said it is ok) the main reasion i am bringing my camera is cuz i am car fan and i wanna snap a few pics of my car and his cruiser together:D

so, what do you expect from your ride along?

I am just trying to get ideas so i will be kinda ready when it is time.

as far as i can think of, sit on the passenger seat, shut up, watch & learn as much as possible. and sure time to time ask questions. thats it.

First suggestion is to utilize the "search" feature on this forum. I am pretty sure most (if not all) of you questions will be answered. ;)

Otherwise, main thing I want my riders to do is "listen" to me and enjoy themselves. I will give a quick "briefing" before we head out... I'll let them know stuff like:

1 emergency button locations
2 if I have "radio" chatter...please be quiet, as I need to listen
3 ask questions at appropriate times (see 2)
4 shadow me, unless I instruct otherwise
5 use common sense and good judgement
6 etc etc etc....
