Ok, I got pulled over and asked about a passenger..

Ok, I was working in my company vehicle and I stopped at a gas station at 3am.(I work nights) A female approaches me and asks for a ride. I automatically say no Im sorry I cannot. This was the second person that night asking for gas money or a ride. I usually assume they need money for drugs. Well this second lady kept asking me and pretty much begs. I leave and finish my work and I see the lady walking. (it should have clicked in my head at that moment) Well I was feeling really nice that night and I pull up told her I would give her a ride. I drive about 4 blocks and she does what I should have expected, she tries to solicit sex to me and I immediately pull into a Burger King parking lot and tell her to get out. About 5-10 minutes later, 3 police vehicles surround mine. The officer asks me why I had that woman in my vehicle and I gave him my story... I knew immediately he didnt believe me.. and frankly I dont blame him. He takes my Drivers license number and I also have a "How is my driving" sticker on the back. I wasnt charged with anything, but I get the feeling they didnt believe my story. Im worried about getting called in on at my work or someone in the community hearing the I was buying sex. I told my wife the story and she understands. What would you have done?? Is there any confidentiality laws about releasing information if I was not charged?

This is a huge lesson learned for me. Complete idiot move by myself.

Bad move but it sounds like you already know that. This won't make you feel any better. There is no confidentiality, it's the exact opposite in most states. Most states it is a public record which means usually for under $1.00, sometimes free, anyone in the public can find the information on what took place. That's only if any kind of paper record exists.

Why were you in the Burger King parking lot with her in your car for 5-10 minutes???

She was not in my vehicle, I told her to get out pretty much while the vehicle was moving. She got out and I pulled up to the side of the restaurant. I deliver products to that store and I was filling out a customer report and invoice. I also left my headlights on while I was sitting at the store, its not like i was hiding in the back.

I mean its obvious I wouldnt try to pickup a hooker while in my service vehicle.. One of the female officers was giving me the stare down too. I was pretty much lost for words. It had to be the most incriminating circumstances...

Im just freaking out right now. I know im not in any legal troubles, but I am wondering if my company was contacted.
I really depend on the local police to watch my back when Im in the bad neighborhoods at night. Now all I can think about is the way they see me now.

You're forgetting the important details...Was she hot at least? Did you get a picture?

    Only kidding (sort of).

If you weren't cited/arrested/etc., then you have nothing to worry about. It sounds like a routine contact where they were investigating possible prostitution. Once they determined that no crime had been committed, that's it. There is no reason that the officers would contact your employer. Your company policy is not law enforcements business. And quite frankly, we really don't care. After they talked to you, it was on to the next "suspicious" car or whatever the case may have been.

If what you are saying is true, I don't see any reason why the police would contact your company. But if you're that worried about it, then just go to your supervisor and let them know what happened.

And it doesn't matter what your local police thinks about you...they are still going to do their job and watch your back (as you put it).
