Disqualification from the Police Academy?

I have wanted to be a Police Officer for as long as I can remember and actually I am military police now. When I get out I want to be a "real" cop on the outside. The only illegal things I have done is I got wrapped up into soliciting a prostitute when I was 15 (7 years ago) because a guy I was with picked one up and I received oral sex from the prostitute for $8. And one time in middle school me and my friend vandalized some property by breaking the plastic plates on gas meters, in which the gas company didn't press charges. I would never do either one every again and I am extremely embarrassed and humiliated about both. I don't have a criminal record I don't even have one speeding ticket. Besides those two incidents I'm completely clean. In your opinion do you believe I will be disqualified from the Police Academy. If I can't be a cop I will be heart broken. I don't know what I would do. Thank you for your response.

You'll definately have to explain the prostitution deal and it will be a hurdle you'll have to jump but I don't believe it's a career killer. But then, it all depends on the agency.

Of course, if you highlight your negotiating prowess by explaining how you received a nobber for only $8.00 then that may help you.

Of course, that'll bring up another question: Did you check to make sure it was a chick? :D

Keep a clean military record and 7+ years since the incident and I would think you'll be OK. But every agency is different.
