    Duty Belt arrangement

Anyone want to lend some tips on arranging their duty belts? I cant get it right, my problem is that I only have like a 32 inch waist and fitting all of my gear on there comfortably is a pain. I am trying to keep stuff out of the small of my back, but its hard to fit two cuffs, weapon, baton, radio, OC, etc on there...also, i keep hearing contradicting opinions about if i should keep my baton behind my service weapon....help me out...

Whatever is most convenient for you. Just make sure of one thing, that you practice, practice, practice getting your weapons without looking to help develop that muscle memory. You should not have to look where your cuffs or OC spray is in order to get them.

heh, we have one female that is rail-thin, you just need to adapt. Stackable cuff pouches, etc. Just depends on your policies more than anything. We are required to wear everything.

Granted, my OC container does make a good holder for my badge sheath. Otherwise, completely useless IMO.

I have a 32-34 inch waist depending on what type of pants I have on haha.

My belt is as follows from the left of my hip wrapping around my back and ending with my gun.

    Mag pouches
    OC spray
    Flashlight
    Leatherman tool
(open space in the small of my back)
    handcuffs
    radio
    gun

    It works out pretty well.

You just gotta experiment. You'll get the hang of it.

My Glock on my right , extra mag pouch next , expandable baton last. Glove pouch front left, than cuff pouch , than my pepper and lastly my radio.

If necessary , put the small stuff in the back so it is least likely to jab you while driving.

And if you are a sworn LEO , why not get verified and you will have access to additional areas here ?

I know some Officers that have their less lethal devices away from their service weapon, but I've always kept everything arranged the way I was initially trained.

The way I thought was that my lead instructor in the academy told me to arrange it as such and I was then trained in that arrangement. He and the other instructors had a lot more experience than me and since there was a method behind everything they taught me, I left it that way.

Besides, I've got that muscle memory thing going on and don't think about where anything is, my hand just goes there. I've added only one thing, but the basic layout has remained the same.

From the front of the belt - counterclockwise:

    magazine pouches
    keeper
    radio pouch
    keeper
    weapon flashlight (add on)
    duty flashlight
    handcuff case
    keeper
    latex glove pouch
    keeper
    handcuff case
    keeper
    S&W 4586
    keeper
    OC spray pouch

If you are carrying two pairs of cuffs, try using a double cuff pouch.

I too have a 32" waist and manage to make everything fit;)

From my right ( your left) going clockwise:

keeper, duty weapon, keeper, baton, keeper, keeper, double cuff pouch, radio, surefire light, OC, keeper, double mag pouch

Try eating more donuts. :D You have to earn your police physique.

I recently struggled with adding a few things. My idea is keeping what I can up front where I can get to it easier. I also like to keep things off my back as much as possible. And I absolutely will not put my baton behind my weapon. Mostly this is due to my holster being that cheap rotating scabbard from ASP. If it rotates it will block my access.

Anyway...here is my set up starting at the buckle going to the right clockwise. Enjoy your tour.

We'll start with my waistline, which is a streamlined 36". THe belt consists of:

    Buckle
    OC
    Cuffs
    keeper
    Sig 226
    keeper
    cuffs
2 keepers and space on the back
    Stinger flashlight
    HT
    Baton
    Keeper
    Mags

Exit to your left. Photos available to the ladies upon request

I have a 30-inch waist. I have to squeeze the belt keepers in, but it all fits. If they issue me any more gear, however, I'll have to start eating some donuts. :D

    From left to right:

    magazines
    handcuffs
    radio
    glove pouch (small of back)
    ASP
    service weapon
    O.C.

If you are left-handed, just reverse the order.

Right of the belt buckle: mobilphone - pepper-spray - weapon
Left from the belt buckle: handcuffs, radioholder, leatherman with an small micro-maglite, flashliteholder, reserve magazine

My state is changing the weapon, I use the SigSauer P225 (P6) since 1979, we are on the way to change it to the Walther P 99, a lot of officers in my state have it but not me. Together with the new weapon we get a duty belt with new holster, most officers have problems with that because the holster is so big that they have problems with the seat belt buckle.

Future will show me how it works when I get the new weapon.
