    Red face Opinion

What would look better on my resume in mabye 3 years (or less) when applying to the toronto police:

-Toronto Police Lifeguard (civilian job with toronto police, a few more duties than what im used to like patrols with motorcraft, you get sworn in and stuff)

    OR

-Reserve Military Police (speaks for itself, im worried might be a problem because of school)

Im asking because this summer i have the opportunity to get hired by either of these, Id probably stick to oneuntill police hiring. Meaning if i got hired by reserves id probably stay in it until i start applying to police, and if i choose lifeguarding im going to stick with that.

if you can keep both do it.. if not it depends.. if you already work for the organisation its a good place for contacts.... but military exp is always a good thing.... if you still don'T KNOW where to go, choose the one that gives you bigger responsabilities and the one that have a better personnal experience

The police lifeguard position may be in the same pension system, and while it may not reduce your time as a PO, it may increase your pension when you retire. I'm not familar with how Canadian retirement works though.

Both seem like positions of responsibility and it doesn't seem to me that one would be better than the other. If you can, do both. If not, pick the one you want more. You will do better in the postion if you want to be there.

I would take the one that you will be able to do without problems.

A three year stable work history would look better than anything.
The retirement factor is worth checking out also.
On a clear night, I can see the other deputies emergency lights at least 10 miles away.
But it isnt flat here LOL

I would talk to a Toronto Police recruiter. Since that is where you ultimately want to work - their opinion means more than ours.

Be up-front. Tell them that your long term goal is to obtain employment with them. Tell them that in the mean time, you wish to serve your community and Nation in any way you can. Ask if one would be looked at differently than the other.

It shows you as a goal-orianted person that is willing to serve others.
