In one ep they have the victim spouse plant a hidden camera in her bedroom to catch the unfaithful spouse having sex. It succeeded, and the tape was broadcast with enough blurred out detail to prevent it from being obscene.

My question is this: Is it not illegal to plant a secret video recording device like this in a bedroom with the specific intent to records the girl having sex? Why is nobody going to jail over this??

In Texas, a person can video/audio record anything they wish in their own home, even without the others consent.

One could not plant a recording device in the home of another.

One cannot; however, record a phone conversation without at least the consent of one party to the call. That is how they afre able to play the recordings of all of those phone calls.

who wouldn't want to see video of a girl having sex? well, unless it was like roseanne barr or somebody, then i probably wouldn't want to see it.

My problem is that the subject of the recording was unaware of the recording in a situation/location that should be private. The investgation could have succeeded without such a violation of privacy.

Yes Scruit, she might sue for some invasion of privacy, but there was no law violated.
