In Connecticut you cannot carry a gun if you have been convicted of a felony or certain misdemeanors (CGS 29-28). I would imagine most states have similar statutes.
No gun = no job as a police officer.

I'd have to agree that your outlook for a career in LE is bleak, at best.

I'm sure you could find something in that field, but not a cop...sorry. What about a dispatcher? Or a crime analyst (civilian position)?

I may not be a recruiting expert, but if you are convicted of a crime as a minor your records are expunged/sealed when reaching adulthood. Right???

If this happened when you were 13, if you were tried in a juvenile court, you were not likely adjudicated of a felony which means you have your rights intact.
You need to contact a lawyer and discover what happened to you legally and what it means as an adult.
That being said, if this was when you were 13 and you have been clean ever since, and you were not actually convicted as an adult, I would not write off your chances in LE. You gotta check and find out though.

my felony is getting dropped to a misdemeaner soon.does this make a difference?and it was a burglery not a robbery(no gun involved)
If it's a misdemeanor you won't lose any rights (possess firearms, vote etc.) so in that sense it makes a difference. With a felony conviction as an adjudicated adult, you are guaranteed not to get hired.

Even if it doesn't automatically disqualify you, consider this. You have 5 spots available, and say 20 - 30 applicants. Out of this you have to pick the best people to fill the position. I don't know what qualifications you bring to the table (like college degree, military experience, good credit rating, otherwise clearn criminal record, no drug usage, etc.), but this burglary (regardless of whether it remains a felony or gets dropped to a misdemeanor) will work against you when stacked against the competition.
Also, depends on how old you are now and how much time has passed. Let's say it is dropped to a misdemeanor. If you're 30 now and have a solid work history, it may be looked over for more favorable qualifications if it becomes a misdemeanor. If you're much younger, then you're crime isn't that far off from the present, and you may be out of luck this go-round.
Too many issues the hiring department will consider for anyone here to give you a 100% accurate answer on your chances.
