question i have had about pulling over and your prefrence

    for example
I am driving on a Highway A cop flashes his lights at me to pull over i see an exit 1/2 a mile away with a gas station there. Would you prefer if i pulled over immediately or that i keep going and get off at the exit and pull in the gas station. Would it anger you either way.

I'd prefer that you yield immediately to the right hand side of the road like the law says. If I have to follow you for another 1/2 mile, off the freeway, and into a gas station I won't be pleased. If I wanted you to do that, I'd use my PA and tell you what I wanted.

I agree. I have no idea what the hell is up with people and doing that... I've gotten told by so many people lately that they'll stop when "They feel comfortable", and look for a well lit spot, even if it meant driving down the road for 1/2 mile or more.

What is so hard for people to understand that when lights go on, that means stop.

If you pull over when directed to do so, You will be a lot more likely to get a warning. If you have to be followed.............well you get the point.

I agree with everyone here. Just pull over asap. Most officers are going to try and have you stop in a safe position, if not we will pull our car in a position to protect your safety. Just stop...

What some people don't seem to understand is that WE choose where you stop. The law does not say "pull over when you feel like it." It also doesn't say, "Pull into a parking lot and into a parking space."
I used to care. Now I take a pill for that.

or your driveway and get out walking to the house saying "I'm on my property now, you can't do anything to me.."

Pull over immediately, if we want you to move to a safer location, we will hold onto your driver's license and direct you to the location we want to continue the contact at.

Not only will you get a citation for the orginal PC for the stop, but you will get one for every other violation also including failure to yield to emergency vehicle. Just pull over when you are directed to. We usually do it as safely as possible.

If you make me follow you, I'm only going to get mad. If I'm mad I'm more likely to issue every ticket I can think of, including "Fail to Stop When Signaled."

If I'm in a good mood when I talk to you, you may still get the ticket I planned to issue but I'll generally ignore other violations like expired tags, expired OL etc. Even when I do issue a ticket I usually try and cut some kind of break, i.e. on RADAR I'll issue 34/25 instead of the 42/25 I caught you at. You piss me off, the only thing I guarantee you is to jam you up as best I can.

Here in my province, we use to have to do drving lessons to get a driver licence. when I did my lessons for driving they were showing people to stop whenever it safe for you..... I dont know for you guys on the other side of the border but it might be for that reason that people don't stop immediately.

For myself, If I intercept a driver and this one don't stop imediately because there is an exit in less than 500 meters where I can deal with the driver out of the high speed traffic, I'll be more than happy. I don't like when I have stupid drivers who are passing near of me at 120 km/h just for fun to see how I will react.... But for sure if I have to follow him on a distance of 1 km I will be mad.

ILL get out of my patrol car, yell at the guy ask him to step out handcuff him on the ground, search the car call for back up and he k-9 team.. ( just joking lol :D )
