Best pursuit ( foot or otherwise)

We had a guy stopped ina Pizza Hut lot with no ID at all. Running the name he gave came back no record as having a drivers license. Finally , after running the tag and some other info we came up with a name who was suspended and had warrants. When we went to take him into custody ( about 10 pm) he fled quite fast across the parking lot towards a line of trees. He ran full force through the tree line and seemed to be gone. I knew that just past the trees was a 10 ft drop off down to another business and it's parking lot.

Sure enough as we cautiously made our way past the trees and down the embankment, Mr. flight of foot was sprawled unconscious on the pavement. He must have had some nice air time in the dark.

He ended up with a broken wrist and a concussion.

His girlfriend came in to ID him and "confirmed" his name which we later discovered was not his real name when he was put in jail. We than charged her with unsworn falsification ( a Misd) and some traffic stuff for letting him drive her car and he got escape, driving under suspension and unsworn falsification.

She failed to reclaim her car and it was crushed.

Pretty funny, mc... I love when stupid people prove just why they are so stupid.

I liked DC's mile long foot chase he told us about. What a wonderful bedtime story.

A friend of mine told this story, and he swears that it's true and happened to him... He was running from the police on foot one time and he was far enough ahead that he decided to taunt them so he started looking over his shoulder and finally turned around and was running backwards yelling obscenities at the officers. This master plan worked out well until he ran backwards into a parked police van.

A guy that works my zone on the shift opposite me was in a chase about 2 months ago that led to him totalling his patrol car. The other officers continued the chase and it ended just across the line in North Carolina. As the North Carolina deputies were driving away with the guy, he turned around and shot everyone a "haha, come get me now" bird.
Well, about 2 weeks ago I was in riding with the guy that got his car totalled and the Sergeant had a present for him. Seems the guy bonded out in NC and was ready to come stay with us for a while, and we got to go get him.
He had a, umm, uncomfortable ride back. Yeah, that's the word. uncomfortable.

i was in a pursuit that was so long once that i got mad because there were no good songs on the radio. an auto theft task force officer got out of the pursuit, stopped at a gas station, filled up completely, and got back into the pursuit; even the freakin' helicopter ran out of gas and had to go back.

i've been rammed once. at least twice, i've been on the wrong end of a fleeing felon trying to hit me with the vehicle. seeing headlights coming straight for you isn't cool at all.

i was in a pursuit tuesday and another one earlier today. one i had was 130-140 mph for several miles. we were leaving my co-workers behind.

as cool as they sound, i could honestly go the rest of my life and never be in another one; and that would suit me just fine.

P01IC3M4N, do you shoot at the guys that tried to ram you? Up here, there have been three officer shootings because cars have tried to ram them. I don't think the message is getting through.

I was involved in a pursuit which ended with two guy who must have been overcome with a serious case of dumbassitis. They decided to jump in the Missouri river. Well, we soon heard,"I can't swim. Help me." The only response I heard was,"You better learn really quick or you'll drown. We ain't coming in after you." Amazingly they both swam back to us.

My guys would. Its menacing with a vehicle. Last year they killed a person in that exact same situation. Worst part is that it ended up being a 14 year old "a$$hat".

Thats pretty tragic Stump, but you know it can't make a difference on the street. The officer that shot him wouldn't have known how old he was. I think the cop was brave for what he did, I am sure it takes balls to shoot your gun on the job.

I'm not a police officer but in my younger more foolish days I had an interesting foot pursuit.

I was walking one day and noticed two guys jumping another, being young and foolish I decided to be the hero and intervene, I elbowed the first man in the jaw and punched the other in the face, allowing the third man which was now pretty battered to run off and escape. Once he was free I started back on my way until I realized one of the men was chasing me, so I of course started running, I started to cross one of the many bridges we have and when I got 3/4 of the way across I flung myself over the side of the bridge, grabbed on to the rail posts and swung under the bridge landing on the support beams, a stunt I had done many many times, so basicly I was sitting on the support beams about 30ft from the ground.

I guess my persuant figured it was safe to jump over since I had done it and proceeded to plunge 30 ft. into the frigid muddy water. when I didn't see him come up I hurried down and rescued him from the waters, when he came too I guess he was kind of surprised to see me, I started off at a dash thinking he'd kick my *** only to be blocked by the other man at the top of the bridge.

Turns out both were some kind of investigators for some governement agency (I never really asked) Once I explained my actions I got let off with a warning of some sort. I don't know if they were police or what but turns out it was a pretty stupid thing I did and I just wanted to tell that not only the bad guys are stupid the good guys can be stupid too and run off bridges without looking.
