How do you know they were investigators for sure though? Did they show you their badge?

Oh yeah I was handcuffed shown badges, squad cars came it was a big deal. They thought I was the other guys accomplice or something. But I explained it all from the back of a shadow car (unmarked police cruiser I guess) and they let me go. Actually it was pretty cool most of the people were pretty impressed at my little stunt, when it dawned on everyone I was just trying to be a good guy they let me off told me to next time just call the police which I of course said by then it's always too late.

I was young and real cocky it was stupid. I really am a nice guy and law abiding I swear I meant no harm I was just trying to save my life from an *** whooping.

    Playing with a prisoner.

We had a guy in custody in our dept holding room which has a desk and a camera. We were feeling in a good mood with him and told him that we just found out that it was possible to pick a handcuff lock with a paperclip. We made a big show of checking the desk ( he was cuffed to a chain next to the desk) for paperclips. Taking the small handfull of them we triumphantly left the room. We purposefully let one fall to the carpeted floor.

Sure, enough as we left, he found it and went to town on the cuff. I mean he was really trying. We would send an officer back to check on him and he would stop and hide the clip. We did this several times and we were laughing so hard we thought he would hear us and catch on. ( he didn't)

We finally went back and confronted him about trying to escape which he denied. I then pointed to the semi-concealed camera and told him that if he didn't confess to his charge of domestic assault ( we had good evidence anyway) that we would charge him with Felony attempted Escape. He confessed right away.

Who says we can't inject a little humor into our jobs ?

That's a great story....when people think they are so smart but get a huge awakening.

I investigated a traffic collision that occured where a side street intersects a moderately travelled road. It consisted of a man in a mini van who was travelling on the moderate road and a man in one of those Ford Harley Davidson F-150's who was crossing it. He was dressed in leather and had a bandana around his head.....just like he was riding a Harley.

The man in the minivan kept chipping and saying he couldn't figure out why the guy in the pick-up just pulled out in front of him. The man with the pick-up was visibly agitated, but he kept quiet, at least for awhile. Then suddenly he had enough of the guy in the mini-van (quite frankly I was too), and he said with a quiet anger, "You were going the wrong way on a one way.".

The guy in the mini van shut up really quick.
