I think a lot of this depends on the location of the officer. I'm in a shall issue state and I'm used to a lot of citizens having guns legally, and safely. It doesn't bother me.

I can imagine in anti-gun states like California or Massachussettes, the cops don't ever see law abiding citizens with guns. Running into a legal gun is foreign. They probably would react very cautiously, handcuffing and carefully checking all the documentation. I can understand that frankly.

That kind of cautious response would be an over reaction and frowned upon in my state. But it may be completely approrpriate somewhere else.

    I usually say:

"Officer, I'm armed and if you think you're man enough to take it from me I welcome the excersize"

heheheehehe, ... Actually I wouldn't suggest that route... it's likely to end badly :p

I think we all need to chip in and buy Chewy one of those message stick things. He can put it in his back window. The message can say something like' "I'm Chewy- Try to Stop Me!" Then, we can just turn off our lights and siren..... and look for safer game! :D

    Be Polite

I usually do as posted above.

    Window down- weather permitting.
If it's night time, I'll turn on the interior light.
    Hands on the wheel.
Let the officer know I have a gun. I usually have either a badge or ID, or both handy- and I'm polite.
Let the officer do the rest on his/her own accord. And whatever they tell me to do, I do- and I'm polite.
Depending on what they do, they may piss me off, but it's their stop. I comply with them- and I'm polite.

It isn't the time for the whole "Johnson check".

But, during the stop, I'm polite!
