    Getting through traffic...

I find it interesting ( and im guilty of it too! ) that everyone slows down to exactly the speed limit or less, and/or moves over to the right lane if there is a LEO vehicle on the road, lights off, just cruising.

I was behind one today getting on the highway during "rush hour" in Milwaukee. I obviously stayed a safe distance back - but he saved me at least 5 minutes from where we got on, to the outskirts of the city until he got off the highway. Normally people start driving stupid, changing lanes, ect - but instead I got to cruise behind the cruiser in the far left lane at 5mph+speed limit without any of the normal nutjobs cutting me off, changing lanes in front of me and slowing way down, doing the "3-lane shuffle" to the exit, ect.

I'm just curious if you guys like that everyone moves over - or if it drives you nuts that everyone slows way down around you and you're trying to get somewhere?

I love when I see a black Crown Vic with US GOV plates flying on the highway. Everybody moves over for them. I always follow their car since I know they have no intention of doing a car stop and I can get where I gotta go expediently.

That drives me crazy too... I'll usually wait till everyone pulls over behind the cop then I'll pass him. That usually loosens up some people and then they'll start passing. I respect cops and all but I've got places to be, I can't screw around taking all day getting somewhere just because the cops have nothing to do!!! Besides, I look at those traffic speed limits as a guideline of what is safe, not something I HAVE to follow :D

What is really "interesting" is when you get a call and have to get through traffick, turn on the lights and siren, and the people in front of you slow down to a stop - without getting out of the way. Got to love it when you're in a hurry to get to a call and some jack@ss in front of you is slowing you down instead of clearing the way.

I made record time on the way to Austin last week because of my POV. It's amazing how spooked all the speedy-gonzales drivers get around me. See Avator :D My wife gets a kick out of it. And I will admit so Do I.

When the lights go on behind me, I either pull over ASAP, keeping a decent pace until I have the lane at least partially cleared..

    or...

I speed up if I can't get over at that particular moment. I figure that when the lights go on, either I am in the way or being pulled over for already going to fast a couple miles back.

Although, thats just a rough generalization, and you can never say "i do this" for this type of situation since it's a fluid and flexible situation.. I try to keep out of your guy's way. I figure if I don't, the time that I need you, some jack@$$ would make you show up one trigger pull to late.

....but like I said.... I looove it when you guys clear traffic for me.

Why would you put lights in your POV?

    why not?

Besides, you might have to stop at an accident some day and save a bunch of nuns from a car fire... wouldn't want anyone running into the back of your car would you? :D

If I'm driving the speed limit and you pass me in front of other traffic, you're getting stopped. Usually just to get yelled at for making me look foolish in front of everyone. If you have an attitude about it, you'll get a ticket for it.
