Question for a New York City Police Officer

Does anyone know what the New York City Franchise Police do? I am assuming that they handle business law investigations, but I don't know for sure because every police officer that I have asked says they've never even heard of them. Even a web search of the agencies name came up blank.

Never heard of them. There are so many agencies in NYC that use the word "POLICE" in their name (DCAS Police, CUNY Police, Hospital Police, etc) whose officers are only Peace Officers who do not carry firearms as opposed to the NYPD whose officers are Police Officers. If I had to guess, I'd say that the Franchise "Police" employ investigators who are Peace Officers at most and investigate businesses.

There's a new one. Never heard of them.

However, the newest one to me is the "New York Cross Harbor Railroad Police", operating out of 1st Ave in Brooklyn. Learn something new everyday!

I went on a NYC patch site and the patch for them was listed under the "Transportation" section. Do you think this may be an earlier name for the Taxi and Limosuine(SP) Commission Police?

TLC are not and never were police. I would be interested in the site though.

Yeah, I sort of thought that both of these agencies were peace officer, powers limited to on-duty functions only agencies.
