I have a report to provide to my Commander on Intrusive Supervision. What intrusive supervisory techniques do you use to supervise your subordinates?

It sounds like it is a bad thing... I can picture gouvenors on cars to determine how many times the vehicle stops and the speed it goes all the time... or I picture the Commander peering over your shoulder from the backseat while you are writing a report.![]()
Depends on whether it is done maliciously or not. Intrusive supervision does not mean invasive supervision. It means ensuring that the officers are doing their job to a proper standard.Originally posted by Stump

If I may...
Do YOU know what HE means when he says "Intrusive Supervision"?
Or is the object of the exercise to figure out what YOU think it means?
Eric,
What he wants is a report on how we use 'intrusive supervision' to make sure that our troups are doing 'the right thing' and how we record our use of it.
All I can think of is GPS monitoring of vehicle location and getting on the radio wanting to know why a car hasn't moved in 15 minutes, or running officers on-duty time stats through the computer and determining how much of that consisted of en route, on scene or "free" time that could be documented better as "doing something". That all happened to me....

we don't have GPS monitoring, yet. And we don't have the ability to get those stats up. Thanks for the reply, though.
Yeah, our system allows a superviser to run an officers logged on time and figure out how much toime is spent on traffic stops, en route to calls, on scene, on follow ups, etc. I have previously been counseled for having 65 % of my time over a given time period showing me as being unoccupied.....and the Sheriff is known for watching the GPS locators and getting on the air to ask why cars aren't moving.....Originally posted by artie
