    Personal Property Questions..

Hey! first off thanx for coming to my post! :D

    1. Is there any law about touching someone's personal property? (i.e. CD's , DJ equipment, Purse, ect.)

    2. Is it petty theft if they take my cd's?

I DJ at a youth center on friday night's. i work in an enclosed booth that nobody is allowed in except if they have a pass. and it seems almost every friday i got home missing at least 3 to 4 maybe more cd's. there is a total of 3 DJ's counting myself and i have a clue to who it may be. I also have my own personal equipment and i have a certin way i pack it up in its case and it seems everytime i take it home and open it up all my knobs are moved and messed up. What i find is weird is when i come up to DJ the one DJ takes off and leaves before he can be question and i find that highly suspicious. What is werid is everybody knows how much money they carry right? well i carry only $20 or so sometimes a little more but after i leave and the next day i go to buy something i notice my amount is not what it was.. and things are missing out of my purse.. nothing of value but to me.. i.e. chapstick, pens, ect. and sometimes i think im losing it.. but maybe im not.. maybe the same person who is going through me cd's and equipment is going through my purse? It's coming down to the point where i don't trust anybody. I look at everybody and they become a criminal.

I'm just looking some answers please.. THANX a Bunch

and yes i am a police explorer (edward 4) and i havent had the time to aks my police department... if ya were wondering..

If you have proof of who is engaging in the petty thefts you should report that person to the manager of the building. I would be careful to steer clear of allegations that you can't back with a sufficient amount of proof. In the mean time follow some guidelines. Heres a good start:

    1) Never leave your purse unattended.
    2) Carry any cash amounts on your person.
    3) Secure any other items in a safe area.
    4) Make sure your items are in your clear view.

Find a different way to do your business. Don't bring a purse - use a fanny pack or something.... don't leave your CD's laying around - put them into an easy-access book or something and then WATCH IT.
Does anyone else know that you are having this problem?

good advice! thanx a lot i didnt think people would care about my stupid problem.. its come down to it were im not taking much with me anymore.. but i do want to catch him in the act. just because i know im not the first victom! there has been a few mishaps where ppls wallets have gone missing.. oh well im going to watch him and my stuff like a hawk! maybe he will be stupid enough to do something while i am watching.

I got another question hypothetical -

if your wallet is stolen and the contents are : College ID, Drivers Lisence, and $50. What crimes or crime have been commited? and if we found the DL,and ID and just the money is gone is it just petty theft?
