    How many places did you apply?

    When you first became an officer how many places did you apply? Did you get your 1st pick? Were agencies competing for you or was it the other way around? Thanks guys.

    BTW for those who didnt see it, i found out i got accepted to the academy this week so im very excited. :D

    I applied at 5. The one that offered me a job wasn't my first choice - but they chose me, so I figured I owed them some loyalty. I stayed nearly 9 years before I moved on.

    From first application to 'conditional offer' of employment took 18 months.

    I applied to about a million agencies.:D

    Back when I first started applying was when budget cuts really began hitting police agencies in MI. So I applied and applied and took the first one that came my way. I was on pins and needles because my ability to be certified was going to expire in a few weeks.

    I applied to about 10. Didn't get the one I wanted. Then I got 2 offers at the same time and had to choose. Since then I've recieved an offer from an agency I really wanted but couldn't take the job because of the location they wanted me to go too.
