Damn sounds like most of you guys only go to medical calls IF you want. WE have to go. We get the calls all the time for "Unit 7... respond to Joe Blow Nursing home with the medics for a RECTAL Bleed" Uh ok county, on the way...
Our Chief in his infinite wisdom {anyone have a wisdomy chief?} says we go to ALL EMS calls. Customer service. We have a few nsursing homes WITH nurses and even one old folks house that sits on the property of the HOSPITAL. We go...
"Det. Tim Bayliss: You never say please. You never say thank you.
Det. Frank Pembleton: Please don't be an idiot. Thank you. "

" From the tracks on his arms, large caliber wound, proximity to a heroin market... I'd say it was a heated dispute about the symbolism of red and blue in 18th-century French romantic poetry"

Kinda dumb unless you're EMT trained or higher... or so close that your First Responder training may help..

My opinion is it only adds to too many people with lights and siren running code, and adds to chaos and crowds at the scene. Unless, of course, there may be foul play.

Around here, the Vols get there before anyone and they are trained EMTs or Paramedics with all the right tools.

One can only be so Open Minded before all that mind **** spills out, stains and ruins everything.

Yep, I'd just be in the way at an EMS call. Same with a fire unless they needed me for something specific. We have full time paid fire fighters and they get there in plenty of time to do whatever needs to be done.
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

Just because we're responding to a job, doesn't mean we're going lights & sirens. But we also cover smaller areas than a lot of you. My entire precinct is a little over 1 sq mile. We are first responders, but usually will wait for EMS. If someone's life isn't in immediate danger, it's better to wait for EMS.

I mean, we're getting killed for these people and they don't even appreciate it. They think it's a big joke.

We are notified of EVERY fire/ambulance call. Being as we are within 10 miles of 2 hospitals replete with Medic Units ( ALS) , we only go to ambulance calls if it sounds suspicious, involves an injury caused by a weapon or to move furniture and help lift. Also, we may go simply to locate the house at 0200 ( some in the country can be hard to find) , reassure the caller that help is coming, give the ambulance updates on the patients status, turn on lights, gather meds and give first aid/cpr if necessary.

We go to all fire calls that invlove an actual fire.
