Although no longer a policy, I do beleive that normal traffic stops should be done without sunglasses on. Being able to see eye to eye often times goes a long way.
There are times and situations where sunglasses are helpful, but that goes into tactics and we won't discuss them here...

During the day, yes I do wear them. I have pretty light sensitive eyes. I've I'm squinting and having difficulty keeping my eyes open it's a safety issue.

I take them off just before I step out of the car on the stop. The only exception to this is if it is sunset and I am facing into the sun. One I believe in the eye contact thing. Secondly I can see just that little bit better into the car and what is inside it.

It'd be really weird if I did car stops with sunglasses, since I work midnights.

The reason I asked was there was something on this on policeone, so I kinda wanted to see opinions here. Like retdetsgt said when I was leo I also worked nights but now if I were working days I would probably need to wear them now when the sun is real bright as I would see better.
