What's that? 180 credits (give or take).
Why do you ask?

I had about 240 credits, a BS and two AS degrees. I had also served 16 years in the military.
(my dept requires a minimum of 60 units to apply)

However many credits it takes to get a bachelor's degree.
Around 130 on the semester system and 180 on the quarter system, plus or minus a few here and there.Originally Posted by Radical Jack

The answer to that is Yes and No. Yes, it's hard to get hired on with just an associate's degree and/or reserve military experience if you're applying to a department with many applicants who have experience/education well beyond your's. No, it's not hard to get hired on in a very small department where they need officers and have applicants with equal or less qualifications to your own.Originally Posted by kihun_cha
The short answer is that your question is entirely to open-ended for anyone to answer with any certainty, but suffice to say that some departments would hire you with your education/work experience, while others would not due to hiring on applicants with more qualifications beyond what you have.

Son, back in 1952 I didn't have any college credits when I got my first job as a police officer, and most of the 250-300 LEO's in the department didn't have a HS diploma, as it wasn't required.Originally Posted by kihun_cha

When I enlisted, I requested military police training as my first preference, and as a result attended and graduated from the army's MP school in Camp Gordon, GA.
I worked as a city LEO for a little over a year, then went to state
LE level, where I retired as chief investigator of a state's arson division.
Along the way, (31 years) I picked up a HS diploma and enough CC's to
qualify for a BS.
Today, an arson investigators educational qualifications in this state, calls for a BS in a LE related field, and to attend the police academy to acquire LEO certification.
