Course they don't come down my road much, the gravel ends about a half a mile from my trailer. Fences ain't too good, so they might be afeerd of hitting one of my cows, or maybe a hog. A big hog will do ya as bad as any cow.

We had this fellar one time...oh never mind. Wife's calling me to help get in the warshin'.

This is the typical MTV entitlement attitude. They can't be expected to drive an hour and half away to race. They deserve a track where they are, and they want it now. Otherwise it's the government's responsibility to provide them with their entertainment otherwise they'll just break the law and it's all our fault.

You know, I'm not even going to read what has been posted after my last post because I don't care anymore.

The people who are flaming, I will never be able to get anything through to you, but everybody else, I would seriously like you to do something for me. Look at the people who are flaming me and look at the situation as a whole. You have a young person in here that is concerned about street racing in his community and comes up with a question which he believes could possibly lead to at least a partial solution to the problem. He gets a few good answers, but the majority of the responses turn out to be nothing but derogatory towards the poster.

It is a very sad truth that there are people out there who dislike police simply because they decided to uphold law and order for their everyday lives, I honesty feel sorry for you due to some of the people you have to deal with on a daily basis, let alone the reputation you get for protecting others. But this is partially why you have that reputation is because there are officers out there who do not look at the question your asking, instead they accuse of being part of the problem; even though you come out of the woodwork saying you want to help solve that problem.

I'm not going to think of officers any differently because of this though, I know most of you are out there to protect us, most are very nice and are doing their jobs. If I don't do anything stupid, I have no reason to get caught for anything. You are all out there to protect myself from injuring me or even others and I thank you for that. But please realize the world is not against you, and I am certainly not bias of you due to your position. Just realize that there are those certain few out there that ruin your reputation, a good example of that can bee seen in this thread.

Thank you, be safe, and good night.

    -Aaron

By hanging out and observing those who choose not to obey the law, you are contributing.

I appreciate your response, as you sound more mature than most in the street racing biz. The bottom line, is that most officers, at least those that have been doing it long enough, have come across enough street racers to know the true motives.

Look at the average age group of those that are not on the track and doing it illegally. Teens, immature ones at that. We come across them every day.

Know government is going to shut off a roadway so you can race street cars. It just isn't going to happen. Go to the track. If you don't want to drive far to the track, then find the money to have one built or don't race. It's that simple.

Racing is for the track and for the track only. I'm sorry that you don't have on closer, but that isn't an excuse for you or others to do it illegally. If your heart is in to racing as much as it sounds, then you shouldn't mind making the drive.

You have asked decent questions, but I'm afraid this is one forum where you will not get much support. Good luck to you.

News Flash .... this just in !!!!
I have completed my polling that shows that at least 70% of people who rob others of their money and valuables would not commit that crime if more people walked up to them and handed them money and/or valuable items without them having to do anything at all in return !!!

What you mean to say is, "These people are going to race anyway. If the law becomes an inconvience to them, they will break it --- but if the City or State gives them a big enough incentive not to break the law - they won't"

I say let's give them a huge incentive not to break the law. Anyone found guilty of street racing goes to jail for 6 months and the vehicle they drive is impounded and sold at auction. How about that for an incentive ?

I'd like to invite this guy to use my back forty...it's got some timber on it and a bunch of hills.

You could put big tires on them cars, like those boys do on them pickups, and climb out back and camp out. Hear it's good fun. I don't get invited anymore 'cause I drank too much of their beer last time.

Be sure and get them really big a$$ tires, so if you hit someone in the rear you don't hurt their bumper. You know, you just climb over them and kill everyone in the backseat. Gotta love them guys too. They seem to be a little brighter than you youngins' though.

    Have fun...

Just an observation, but, you probably don't "care anymore" because you are not getting the answers you wish(of which I am sure you have asked your local police and city goverment about this issue and have probably received the same answers......yes?).
Also, let me remind you that you have entered a Law Enforcement site, and that WE are full time officers that deal daily with illegal activity, and people that rationalize their actions.....and often have an attitude of, "if the city were to provide a wall for graffiti/racing/skateboarding, "etc...the rest of the city would not be affected.
I work in Louisville Ky, and we have a skate park...and the skaters still skate in the parking garages, and(they) have told me there is nothing like the 'street boarding.'

Friend, please realize that your racing partners are merely 'rationalizing' their actions, and wish to lay blame on the local agencies(police/city government) for a failure to provide a legitimate areana for a course of action that is deamed illegal by the law makers in your area. If you really wish to have an area provided, then contact a local city council member and have an initiative enacted whereby this can happen(which I seriously dought will occur). I truly believe, as has already by stated in previous responses, that your buddies are addicted to street racing because of the thrill of the illegality that it encompasses.

WE in law enforcement do not, and will not condone such reckless/illegal/irresponsible actions such as street racing.

My city has a very popular race track just outside the city limits.

However, our streetracing problem is still out of control because many of the idiots dont want to pay the track fees, or don't want to follow the track safety rules. So instead, they just race on the streets. We've had 3 racing fatalities in the last 3 months. In one case the opponent in the race of the person who was killed, was arrested and charged with murder.

Due to a huge racing enforcement grant funded by the state, my department is offering just about unlimited OT to conduct street racing enforcement. If you drive your little rice racer around here, you will be stopped and cited.

So, the theory that if there is a track provided that street-racing will stop, is a load of crappola. Idiots are still idiots and will continue with their idiotic behavior whether there is a track or not.

And, I will continue to collect overtime pulling them over and taking their rides.
