Cop+Marriage=?

I have recently heard many things about marriage ever since I wanted to be a police officer...What are these things they talk about? This guy today at my work said "Your going to go through about 3 divorces"

Can someone please explain this!

You know what ?!? Some cops never marry - others get divorced, still other marry once and stay married. Everyone is different. Law enforcement typically has a higher rate of divorce than other professions, but that doesn't mean anything to each particular individual - only the group as a whole. You might never get a divorce.

Divorced from my first wife after six years and 4 years in the Dept. My partner getting killed in the line of duty had a lot to do with it. Remarried a year later and still married to the same lady for the past 32 years.

Hmm. You have to make sure you find someone who understands what they are getting into when you get involved. Now i'm not married(so take what I say with a grain of salt) but I've been with the same wonderful woman for three years and she has been more than understanding when I get held over, or when I have to leave in the middle of the night to make a run with my fire company. If you return and find the door locked and a pillow on the couch then it's probably not gunna last.

I'm one that's been divorced several times, but it wasn't the job's fault. I just shoulda been born in one of those countries where they pick your wife for you. I wasn't very good at that.
