Your first ever call? What happened?

Sorry if you guys do not want to talk about this: If its not allowed, you can just delete it.

I have been wanting to be a police officer since i was about 15. I have no criminal background, and never done a drug. I think when I do become a police officer that first call will be a huge rush of adrenaline knowing you're putting yourself in danger to help someone for the first time. Its not about the money for me at all, Its all about the reason for doing it. The reason I want to do it is because I will feel good about protecting and helping others.

I just want to know some of the interesting first calls people have gotten. Like i said if you do not want to answer a mod. can delete it.

    Thanks,
    Evan.

I can remember my very first, it wasn't exactly a call. My first assignment was in traffic division. My FTO made a traffic stop in the ghetto on a woman for making an illegal left turn. A check found her to be suspended and have an arrest warrant on her. When we went to arrest her, the whole neighborhood came down on us and we had to call a "code zero" (officer up to his butt!). We ended up with a mini riot and about 30 people went to jail. Since I was so new, I didn't even know how to properly write reports, I sat on in the office and read a comic book while my FTO did all the reports. :D
Apparently, I'm supposed to be more angry about what Mitt Romney does with his money than what Barack & Michelle Obama do with mine

First call hmm. Pretty sure it was a possible "C-spine" injury. I got to play doctor.

First criminal related, complaint of underage drinkers, ran em for warrants, arrested em for warrants , learned how to do paperwork.

First call I had was when I was in the Military......

My SGT and I were dispatched to a domestic in progress. Upon arrival, we figured out that the male service member had just returned from the field and found out that his wife had blown a couple of hundred bucks at the PX on crap. He got ticked and beat her down pretty good.
When we got there, he knew he had screwed up and turned around to let us cuff him up and take him to jail. Wifey was all bloody from her *** beatdown decided that even though he beat her down good, he shouldn't go to jail. The heifer jumped on my back and started hitting me.
I hip tossed her....put her in cuffs....and off to jail we went with both of them. Husband just shook his head at her..... :D

Learned my first of many lessons that day......NEVER, EVER turn your back on anyone during a call......

My very first call was an armed robbery. Guy held up a woman with a knife in a tunnel underneath a train station. Didn't get much for his trouble, but he did get away.

Straight after that call was a another cop calling for back-up because a guy at an accident scene was going off is nut.

If you rob a gas station, you're only going to get about $100, but I get to see a K9 dog use your arm as a chew toy. For all I care you can keep the $100.

My first criminal call (discounting all of the service calls) was also my first arrest. It was a mother/son breach of peace. We arrested the son. I remember because after I frisked and cuffed him, my FTO put on a pair of gloves and said, "I'll take him to the car-you go wash." The guy was a drug addict and had AIDS. I still wish my butt-head FTO had said something a bit earlier.

But, I did rethink my use of those gloves and it never happened again.

First call was as a reserve, riding witha buddy of mine who was a full timer. I was terrified. I hadn't been through FTO yet, only academy, and this ride was meant as a familiarization, do-what-he tells me to kind of thing...a ridealong, except now I'm wearing a badge and gun.

15 minutes out of the gate, we're driving down a main drag when my buddy happens to notice a car parked behind a grocery store. It's brake lights are flashing erratically. We "code 10" it (suspicious vehicle) and contact it. The driver is covered in blood, and there is a serious language barrier. We get em both out of the car and cuff em while we try to figure out what's going on. I'm trying to remember all I can of my Spanish and talking to the driver. He says that hegoes to a local church, where he is a friend of a certain lady. He gives the lady a ride home this particular night. Well, the passenger (lady's husband) see's him drop her off and gets pissed. Wife goes inside, driver is about to leave the area when the passenger runs up and jumps in the car with him. He pistol whips him across the face, and tells him to drive. He keeps hitting him periodically, saying he's going to kill him and dump him in a creek nearby. He instructs him to pull behind the store and continues to beat the tar out of him with the butt of the POS chinese-made handgun. That's what was going on up until we found them. Everytime the guy got hit, his leg would spasm and hit the brake pedal, which was what got our attention in the first place.

In fact, that whole first week was pretty intense. The above incident, a driveby shooting, a pursuit, and a cocaine psychosis guy in the booking area that took 6 of us to restrain.

Maybe if you're real lucky the crooks will have AK-47's & even a couple of guys laying off doing counter surveillance to take out the arriving cops. I bet it will not seem so "cool" when they empty that first magazine into your car.....

Late 70's, I remember my first night but only a few things. Right out of the barn my FTO stopped a DUI. The guy resisted & put him in the "sleeper hold". He went to jail.

A few hours later we respond to a shooting & find a guy dead in the street. It was some kind of gang dispute. They chased a gangster around in the street with a shotgun shooting him over & over till the guy went down then finished him off. There were obviously dozens of wits but no one saw anything. One of the offs got a wit to talk a few hours later. We arrested a crook who was later convicted & we found the shotgun under a house.

Every night since has been pretty much like the first night. Just different scenarios & players.

    First call

First call was a prisoner transfer. We picked up a lady arrested for 8 FTA warrants (all stemming from writing bad checks) from a municipal PD outside our jurisidiction and brought her back to the county lock-up. After she was booked we did an inspection of the backseat. An inspection was done before we put the prisoner into the car (just before we walked inside the PD where we picked her up) to make sure nothing was there. Two pills were found in the backseat on our second inspection. Our backseats have a large plastic cover over it, so that the prisoner can't stuff items down into the cushions of the seat. Of course when we went back inside the jail and informed the booking deputy of the find the prisoner denied the pills were her's... of course they weren't... they were placed there by the magic Prescription Fairy.

My first call after being let loose on my own was for a women wearing a wedding dress and covered in blood walking into the caller's home. The caller said that the woman came in, got belligerent and then left the home on her own. Never did find the "bloody bride" around the neighborhood.
