What would you do considering your 20/20 hindsight?

I am in my second year of college and soon I will be a junior. I am semester ahead. I am going to turn 20 in the next couple of months. I am tired of biting my fingernails and waiting until I finish school. I have a part time job now and am not hurting for money. What can I do in order to make myself more competitive for LE? Corrections? TDCJ works well with college students here in Huntsville, TX… Any advice on anything that will prepare me better for future LE work…?
    Thanks in Advanced!

Get a degree, have steady work history, volunteer time with your community, a reserve job.

    My advice:
Hang out with friends that stay out of trouble. Don't party too hard - don't use drugs and get good grades. Finish your education and stay in shape (although "round" is a shape - it is not the shape you are shooting for  ) then start applying and see what happens. Good luck to you.

I have over a 3.0 and I am a small group leader at the Baptist Student Ministry (Me and my guys are communtiy service friendly). I am in shape and by that I mean: I am not round! No tickets. I am squared away... Any Ideas...? Or should I just sit on my but somemore?

finish your degree. That is number one. You are still very young and it is rare to be hired that young. It happens but it is rare. You more than likely have a couple more years until you realistically have a good chance so finish your degree. Get a good job history, getting into a LE type job won't hurt, but it won't necessarily help all that much. Doing good work and being responsible at your job go farther than the type of job you have. Don't get into credit trouble and keep your record clean and you will be fine.

I would have gotten a job selling insurance.

    More money. Alot more.
    Better hours.
    Less stress.
    Fewer stupid people.

And I would have gotten a vasectomy when I was 18.

Finished the chem/biology major and gone to med school. Screw working for the gov't or major business. I'd have paid the malpractice insurance just to be on my own.

GET YOUR DEGREE!!!! and try to get it in a field that you will be able to use when getting out of law enforcement.

Hindsight........insurance is a good answer I liked that one.
