Typical booking procedure?

hey everybody, hope you all had a great thanksgiving.

i was just wondering what the typical step-by-step booking procedure is in each of your local jails or police station and if you do anything unorthodox, eccentric or unique while booking arrestees/prisoners. also, give your opinions on the booking process and maybe what should be changed.

Bring the bad guy in do some stuff, do some other stuff, ask him some things, do a few more things, fnish up the last of the stuff and bam done.

Usually a thorough search, pictures, fingerprints, a loooong Q&A session (address, alias(es) tattoos, kin... etc). Every agency does it differently.

First you complain about being arrested now you are complaining about being booked. I think you are going to win this years I am a whiny *** criminal award....

Bring you to the jail, search you again, take off cuffs, fill out a short form including your name, dob, etc, why you are being arrested and any warrants you may have. Turn you over to the Jail Deputy and go back on patrol.

Shouldn't you know this by now?

The first course consists of a lovely drive in a fine (ususally American made) automobile. Your personal tour guide/ chauffeur will be happy to chit-chat with you while enroute to your destination. Topics vary, but may include the implied consent law or your rights under Miranda.

Now that your appetite has been whet - your driver will serve as your escort to your new temporary home. Depending on the area - the decor may seem Spartan - but it is fully functional.

You will now probably be introduced to the local Magistrate. He or she may explain some more legal jargon to you. Don't worry - no one really understands this part - smile and nod a lot and you will do just fine.

The Magistrate - having no further use for your sorry butt - will ask you to step out of the room while he/she completes some trivial paperwork. That being done, you will meet the Deputy that will serve you next. Photograph - fingerprint - that ever-intrusive pat down and you are done. A word of caution - don't take your hands off the counter and turn to look at the Deputy while he searches you - he probably won't like that !!!!! Although that will be a handy excuse - any will really do if you are creating a problem. :rolleyes: You might sigh too loudly, toss something you take from your pocket, or ask one too many questions - you will probably have your arm bent up while they finish the search. Like in the Magistrate's office - just smile and nod and you will get through fine!

The last course is to be introduced to your new roomates. If you are lucky they will be big burly men. Don't worry if they call you "fish" or "meat" as these terms are used as terms of endearment.

If the crime that you say you didn't do is bad enough - you will eventually be shipped off to a full fledged prision - boy won't that be fun ..... but that is an entirely different story.

You left out go by the hospital ER to get the arrestee's bumps and lumps looked at. :eek:
