It all depends on the Dept and the amount of turnover they have. The more turnover - the more work for the backgound investigator. I think that most moderate to large departments have backgound investigators that do nothing else.Originally Posted by Hortiz

The BI's at my department, 5 total, do nothing but hiring people and background checks.

My department is the largest county-level LE agency in my state. Our BI's are assigned to our department's Internal Affairs division. In addition to doing applicant-related work (including BI's) they also investigative administrative cases and internal personnel-related misconduct/criminal activities.Originally Posted by Hortiz
