This question is in response to a recent article in a law enforcement magazine about officers that carry knives. The article was basically discussing the importance of an officer’s ability to have and safely deploy a backup weapon other than a gun/taser/spray device - a knife.
In the article, the scenario was that you were responding to a call and were ambushed by an individual with a baseball bat. You raise your arm to defend yourself, and the bat breaks your dominant arm. The attacker then goes for your gun.
I'll leave the question at this for now - Are officers taught defensive tactics using a knife as a backup weapon? What is a recommended course of action for the scenario above?
