    BI Question

    Quick question:

My BI (from a small-to-medium sized department) informed me that they would begin the BI once they received word back on my poly. That was nearly 2 weeks ago. None of my references (personal) have been notified as of yet nor has my credit report been tagged up yet (I would assume that the credit agencies have to indicate a viewing by a potential employer even if that PE was a LEA?).

He told me I would be notified by mail if I failed the poly and so far no mail. So, no confirmed poly result and no confirmed BI taking place.

Now that you have way too much unneeded information, here's my question: Other than what I've listed, are there other means to determine whether or not the BI has been started (that would answer a lot of questions for me) or do I just get to wait it out like everybody else?

Give it some time. The waiting part is the hardest, but just be patient. As far as finding out sooner, you could just try calling your background investigator and ask him how everything is going. There is nothing wrong w/ calling to check in on your progress, just don't pester them 3 times a day.

    Good luck

The remaining core is known as a white dwarf, seen in the center. Our sun will leave a similar corpse behind after expending its nuclear fuel. This nebula is located in the constellation Musca, the fly, visible only in the southern hemisphere.

If it's for a federal job there is a different schedule.

If you are told 2 weeks, you have to formulate the time by multiplying 2 weeks by the number of applications you completed, add your age, and then multiply that by 7. That is how long it will take in federal time. We're on a different time table.

    Thanks...

Unfortunately (fortunately?!) that's kind of the answer I was expecting (just not the one I wanted). Thanks for the help.

I did e-mail my BI (local department) a number of days ago and was told "thanks so much for writing, please be patient" in essence. I guess you already know what I said when I was asked about my "weakness" during the oral interview! Sometimes I wonder if the patience thing is actually part of the application process (they wait to see if you're going to let the stress of waiting turn you into an idiot)!

That might be a good post question for a BI message board: "How many applicants were potential hires but did something stupid while waiting for the answers?"

I'm rambling. Thanks for the input.

I don't know of any BI-specific message boards, but I'm pretty sure that the answer to that question would be, "No one in the world could possibly provide an accurate answer to that question."
