Traffic and Debt Question

Nice mix of two subject, eh?

1. I received a number of traffic tickets (2 or 3) during the mid-nineties. One of which was for speeding as I recall, another for improper turn and another for a signal violation (which was taken under advisement). My record is clean for the last 7 years (absolutely no moving violations). I did recieve a ticket for a non-moving violation 2 years ago but that's it. How will this impact my ability to get a job in LE (obviously I'm asking just for educated opinions).

2. I have about $5,000 in credit card debt that I have accrued due to some recurrent pilot training (I'm a pilot). I am current on the debt (never missed a payment) and am quickly paying it down (should be gone by February--just in case you're interested!). How will this debt impact my ability to get a job in LE (again, just your experienced opinion).

These are just some painless questions if you have a moment to give me a little insight. Thanks for the time.

Should not have to many problems as far as those go. Deparments are not looking for perfect applicants they are looking for good fits to their agency. They want people that they can mold into good officers for their agency.

Record clean for the last 7 year, but you did receive (remember I before E, except after C) a ticket for a non-moving violation. TRANSLATION: you got a ticket two years ago.

Sometimes (sometimes?) you LEO's are real punks... You do know that don't you?

I understand a ticket is a ticket--but something tells me (and maybe I'm just a punk wanna-be?) that a department would make some type of distinction between a parking ticket and a speeding ticket (or am I just an idiot "civilian"?...don't answer that...).

I appreciate the sarcasm on the debt question (no, I really do), but the idea behind my question was... "If one was managing a $5000 CC debt, is that enough to satisfy LE or is there more to it."

Have I mentioned how much I love you guys too? There's probably a reason for my negligence! (Any spelling errors this time?)

Depends on the department you are applying to, sir. They will look at you, the WHOLE person. Tickets and how much you owe are just a couple of things. That's without looking into your past.

What he is saying is the way you typed it saying that you had not received another single violation in 7 years, yet you go on to say that you recieved a non-moving violation citation 2 years ago. So therefor you record is not clean. Yes they are going to look at your debt, they are looking to make sure your paying on them and your not being pursued by a collection agency. Make sense now?

Man you guys are contentious this late at night (but I think I like it)!
