    Transporting Firearms

I live in California. I have been told that it is illegal if while transporting any firearm in your vehicle, you have ammunition in the vehicle with you. I went to the California Attorney General Firearms Division website, and it said that this applies to "concealable firearms". Im assuming they are refering to handguns. The only time that I transport firearms is when I take my shotgun to the range. I put the ammunition in the tool box just to be on the safe side, and the range is close. However If I wanted to go out to the desert to shoot, I wouldnt want to put the ammo back there because it might got too hot during the long drive down there.

And what would happen if the ammo got "too hot"?

I certainly hope that you are out of the JOIN program, otherwise you would be in violation.

I see you're point! Overheating ammunition is very dangerous. I'd recommend staying clear of California, Nevada, and Arizona too. (Especially Arizona!)

I have to travel in Cali sometimes too, so I carry a meat thermometer in my truck to prevent those embarrassing accidental overheating discharges! Try that...

Hey, I notice that you already have a LOT of negative rep, and I just wanted you to know that in this harsh, cruel world, you can always count on me to be there for you.

Because (sniff, sniff) I (sniff) LOVE YOU!!!!!

I contacted the District attorneys office, and talked to the hearing officer, and he said that as long as the firearms are being transported legally, for a legitimate purpose, then it is ok with the j.o.i.n program.

When I drove out to Death Valley, I stopped every 4 hours to buy ice to keep it on my ammo.

It got a little chilly in my fanny pack, though and I have to admit there was a little bit of "shrinkage" involved.
