Hi,
I was wondering if anybody here went through CSP hiring process, training and perhaps could help me get a better picture of requirements (physical, academic, etc.). Thank you in advance.

I don't know if we have a lot of Colorado members, but regardless, you might want to request a mod to move this to the Background/Hiring Process section so that LEO's and as well as other applicants that might be in the process can respond.
"Life is not about finding yourself. It's about creating yourself."
Also a good place to look would be the Colorado State Patrol website.
yeah, I went through the website. I guess there is nothing like hearing it form someone who's been through the process though. I should have this moved to Background/Hiring Process section. Anybody knows how?![]()
Well you could always call the agency and ask them what they are looking for during their physical exams, written exams and so on. I am sure if they are like most departments and needed people pretty bad you might be suprised just how much info they will give out so that they can get people on board.
Thank you all for your answers. I will talk to CSP and see what they can tell me. Best of luck and keep up the good work and most of all I appreciate all the hard work police officers do to keep this country safe.

there is a guy on that site from CSP. i think his screen name is just trooper. you have to register, but he's a good guy.
I've personally worked with a lot of great cops that were turned down by CSP after being left in the dark for several months. I never applied with them, but, with the exception of the hiring process, have heard very good things.
On the flip side of that, several CSP troopers I work with were hired quickly, within 2-3 months and sent to academy.
Good luck
Astronomical avatar of the week: The Hourglass Nebula: This formation of gasses was created when a dying star gently ejected its outer layers forming a glowing region of ionized gas as seen in the photo. The remaining core is known as a white dwarf, seen in the center. Our sun will leave a similar corpse behind after expending its nuclear fuel. This nebula is located in the constellation Musca, the fly, visible only in the southern hemisphere.
I did not apply for CSP, but I do have alot of friends who are troopers, that I work with everyday.
First thing you need to do is contact CSP either by phone, or on the website and request an application. When you get the application, there will be dates that the application must be in by and written test dates.
If you pass the application phase, you move into the test phase and you will be notified of when the written test is. The test is normally held at Camp George West in Golden, CO.
If you pass the written test and background check, you will be contacted for an oral interview. If you pass the oral board, you then move on to the physical agility test, the polygraph and the physical exam. If you pass all those tests you are brought back for a second oral board. If you successfully pass this oral board you will receive a letter informing you of the academy start date.
The academy is about 6 months long. If you survive and graqduate you also have the FTO that you need to survive through and the probationary period, where they will evaluate you at the end of your probationary term. If you pass this phase, you get to chase taillights and freeze your butt off investigating accidents on the frozen state highways for the next 20 or 30 years.
If you deceide that the patrol is not for you and quit within 2 years, the state will make you pay back the cost for going through the academy, unless you are P.O.S.T. certified prior to applying.
Don't get me wrong, the State Patrol is a great organization, but I have also been told of the politics and other things that go on from the Troopers and former troopers I know.
Good Luck and I hope this helps
