What, besides the military, would help a person get hired with a PD. I realize that this is a very limited question.. and I thank you all who respond.. but It's 5:00 AM and I'm in a hurry to be some place.

So basically.. what are the PD's looking for besides a military backround. Thank's again guys and stay safe.

Many depts require 2 years of college (60 credits) OR 2 years military. Sometimes there's other ways. NYC School Safety can transfer over to NYPD somehow.

Already good answers. Clean history (driving & criminal), good moral character, decent credit always helps. College is definitely beginning to be a requirment w/most depts.

I think military experience is not that important. What is important is your education, background, communication skills, how much you've given back to your community (volunteer/charity work) etc.

You know what could never hurt to have laying on your resume? Some volunteer experience, showing you're willing to help within the community. Also a steady work history without a lot of jumping around looks very positive. Of course this is in addition to college/military and a clean record.
