    Reserve LE in Indiana?

    Hi all,
I'm a few months away from 21, and I'm starting to look at possibly joining a reserve program in a local department in Indiana, but I was curious if anyone here has done this or know someone who has/does? I hear conflicting stories as to what is required to join and what happens when you get started. I guess there are no statewide requirements? Are there hidden costs with this?

Does anyone have any advice or knowledge on the subject that they'd like to share? I'm currently looking at either a police department for a low-income town, or a Sheriff's Office for a rural county with a city of about 60,000 (where I live) included in it.

I did a search but didn't see anything specific to Indiana so I apologize if this has been covered many times over.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,
    RF7126

This is an overly simple question, but have you actually contacted the departments you're interested in directly to inquire about these things?

I know a guy who has done reserve in a city and on county. I do not think that either had any "surprise" costs. I know he went to some training, though. He's able to ride alone and do a variety of work.

    Switchback,
    Thanks, that's good to hear.

    ROS,
I have haven't heard back from my first choice; I've yet to contact the other two I was considering (I will probably be happy with any of them). Partly I'm just curious about what it's like on the "ground level", in manner of speaking.
