you might look into it, but some state requirements may prohibit you from being licensed as a peace officer. don't give up and quit, but you better look into it and expect a whole butt-*** load of disappointment.

What if I stayed in the Military for around 10 years, and stayed out of all trouble? Then would I be able to become a cop in a big city. It has been my dream and life time goal. Thanks.

My record is in back posts.
Should just stay in the military and make a career out of it.
As with TN, unless the District Attorney puts you on diversion or another scenario where expungement is available after you complete your punishment (probation/community service/whatever) than your sh** out of luck.
Expungement orders are only possible when it is offered at the time of your plea agreement. You can't just decide later that you want a charge expunged and get it done. You will need an attorney to look into it if there is any possibility.
There is one exception in Tennessee... the Governor can have your record expungedOriginally Posted by scott715us
I agree with all of you saying to look for another career. How come tho, when I go on P.D. sites for hiring requirements. It says as long as no felony's or domestic cases. No where in there it says MISD. My conspiracy of B&E was 2 months house arrest, and no felony. I just really want to know about this. I just want to see what I will be facing. I was always told never give up. I will do everything in my power to be able one day to become a police officer. I think everyone deserves a second chance in life. Yes I messed up and hangged out with the wrong crowd, but I haven't been in trouble since. No drugs, and I stay away from anything that could bring me down. Thanks.

Best thing for you to do is check with the depts you are interested in and consult with an attorney regarding the conviction(s) you have. Best of luckOriginally Posted by rwami18

My advice....if you can get in the military.....go in....stay in.....have fun....then in 20-25 years retire and find a second career......
Even if you get your record expunged, they will still ask and you will still have to say YES to the arrest question. Charges like B & E ( even conspiracy) are serious and CANNOT be ignored even if your record is expunged.
BTW, an expungment does NOT remove the police REPORT of the incident , just the entry on your criminal history. So do NOT think that an expungement is a complete erasure of the incident, it isn't. You would be lying if you said you were never arrested with an expunged record and lying is a guaranteed DQ.
