    Vision

I know that questions about vision has been asked (and yes I did a search), but I have congenital cataracts in both of my eyes. My vision is only effected in my right eye but I am having surgery at the end of the month to correct it. My question is will having had an artifical lens have any effect on me becoming a LEO? I will have 20/20 or 20/30 vision after the surgery (so says the MD) depending on how it heals. Oh and the cataract in my left eye has the potential to cause my vision to get worse, but could be corrected the same as my right.

I am not going to be ready to be a LEO for another couple of years until after I finish my Biology degree, so my vision and the immediate effects of the sugery should have cleared up by then.

Thank you for your response in advance. And I donot have acces to the internet except at work and I work in an ER so I am usually to busy to check the board (today is a slow day) so I appologise for any late response that I might make. Thanks

Should be no issue at all. Cataract surgery is the most widely performed surgery in the world. Results are stellar but you'll need reading glasses after the surgery. Most departments (making a presumption) will be fine with it as long as you can meet the visual requirements. Since you won't be applying for a few years enough time will have passed where post op complications are not an issue.
